It is a privilege, after a quarter century of training and coaching, particularly in construction and industry, to now support those same organizations in taking the next step toward safer behavior. For years, enthusiastic participants from all levels of these companies have often looked at me with questioning eyes and said that behavior cannot be changed … can it?
Beyond my tireless drive as a trainer to initiate, guide, and sustain the behavioral change that is possible, I now feel both honored and enriched to explain how behavior actually comes about. And how interactive practice with a handful of practical competencies — focused on understanding and reshaping automated patterns stored within our 86 billion brain cells (sometimes with more than a thousand connections per cell) — can contribute to safer behavior in today’s workplace.
