About us

Brain Based Safety was founded by Juni Daalmans. After starting his career as a psychologist in healthcare, he transitioned to the organizational field, where he held roles in Human Resources and training.

Around 2008, Juni felt the need to deepen his professional knowledge once again. He began studying neuropsychology and wrote the book The Brain Guide. This book reached one of his clients, who asked whether knowledge about the brain could also be applied to safety. That question marked the beginning of a development process that ultimately led to Brain Based Safety.

Brain Based Safety focuses on understanding human behavior. Why do people take risks that may injure or even kill them? Without understanding this, it is nearly impossible to achieve sustainable behavior change. Brain Based Safety helps organizations look beyond rules and work on awareness, engagement, and ownership.

The core belief behind Brain Based Safety is that people rarely violate safety rules deliberately. Instead, they act out of commitment to their work and the project. By better understanding behavior—and by making leaders aware of their impact—safety can be improved in a structural and lasting way.
